Job summary

Washington County seeks a Deputy Director – Solid Waste & Watershed to oversee landfill and recycling operations and guide the Watershed Program. You will supervise department staff and report to the Director of Environmental Management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering; MBA preferred but not required.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred.
• 5–10 years of management experience in solid waste operations.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and direct landfill and recycling operations.
• Supervise department personnel and the Watershed Program.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Develop and enforce solid waste ordinances and programs.
• Prepare operating and capital budgets and reports.
• Oversee bidding, contracts and safety programs.
