Job summary

ACLU of Texas is seeking a Deputy Director of Development, a newly created leadership role to expand major gifts, grants, and membership programs across Texas. You will build long-term donor partnerships, oversee staff, and guide the development strategy to advance racial justice values.

The role includes managing a portfolio of leadership donors and foundations, collaborating with leadership to diversify funding, and ensuring effective, mission-aligned operations across the Development

Qualifications

• Eight to ten years in philanthropic fundraising with at least five in a management role.
• Experience growing major gift programs and sustaining donor relationships.
• Proven ability to solicit and close six-figure gifts and complex gifts.
• Experience designing programs with metrics and evaluation.
• Strong relationships with partners across sectors.

Responsibilities

• Directly manages all gift officers and grant strategists; sets goals and evaluates performance.
• Partner with the Director of Development on department strategy and culture.
• Lead moves management and donor-centric fundraising initiatives.
• Collaborate with Communications on donor communications and events.
• Oversee portfolio management for individual leadership gifts and institutional support.
• Ensure efficient operations, budgeting, planning, and project execution.
