Job summary

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) invites applications for a Deputy Director, Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning. This leader will shape MEAL strategy, guide cross-team data use for impact, and strengthen community accountability within SPLC’s social justice work.

The role emphasizes equity, learning culture, and staff development, with opportunities to train teams and drive evidence-based improvements across programs.

Qualifications

• Seven years in monitoring, evaluation, accountability & learning (MEAL) roles.
• At least five years of direct staff management experience.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field as listed above.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and implementation of a MEAL strategy aligned to social justice work and learning.
• Provide guidance and review for MEAL products for technical soundness and accessibility.
• Coordinate MEAL frameworks with other departments to inform decision-making.
• Support community-based accountability practices across programs and activities.
• Conduct in-person and remote trainings on MEAL topics.
• Facilitate project design, planning, and lifecycle MEAL support across teams.
• Support evaluations and research on SPLC's impact.
• Manage MEAL staff including hiring, coaching, performance reviews.
