Kaufman County, Texas, is seeking a Library Assistant to support daily library operations, assist patrons with circulation, reference, and computer use, and help implement programs. Plan and lead story times, craft sessions, summer reading program, STEAM activities, and special family events. Manage the Inter-Library Loan borrowing services. Supervises staff and the day-to-day operations of the library in the absence of the library director.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Work is performed primarily in a standard climate-controlled office and requires sufficient physical mobility to work in an office setting with prolonged exposure to computer screens, to stand or sit for prolonged periods, walking, standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and lifting to 15 pounds. Need manual dexterity and visual acuity. This position closes the library one late night per week and one Saturday every other month ( 6 Saturdays per year). Must be able to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard.
