Job summary

City of New York is seeking a Deputy Director, Intergovernmental Affairs (IGA) within the Department of Buildings. The role oversees IGA liaisons, engages with community boards and residents, and coordinates cross‑departmental outreach and enforcement topics.

The position may include remote work up to two days per week under the Remote Work Pilot Program, with responsibilities to prepare reports and brief the Director on enforcement and development matters across boroughs.

Responsibilities

• Supervise IGA liaisons in their assigned boroughs.
• Manage, prioritize, and troubleshoot issues from community members, elected officials, and community boards.
• Attend community board and civic association meetings and visit relevant locations.
• Prepare weekly and quarterly reports on the unit's activities.
• Assist in the resolution of community concerns and inquiries regarding compliance with NYC Construction Codes and Zoning Resolution.
• Brief the Director on enforcement and development matters for assigned boroughs.
• Engage with internal departments to coordinate follow-up items from community meetings.
• Work with Communications staff to maximize outreach campaigns.
