Job summary

City of Philadelphia is seeking a deputy director level professional to lead operations in the Commission on Human Relations. The role focuses on enforcing compliance with civil rights and related laws, coordinating policy and public information efforts, and engaging with senior city officials and external partners.

The candidate will have a JD and at least four years of relevant legal experience, plus two years in a supervisory role.

Qualifications

• One juris doctorate degree is required.
• Four years of legal experience focusing on the compliance aspects of human rights, civil rights, or related laws.

Responsibilities

• Directs operations of a major division within the City’s Commission on Human Relations.
• Evaluates the impact of applicable laws and regulations and ensures compliance across the City.
• Plans, assigns, reviews, and coordinates operations; recommends policy changes; provides public information support to the Commission and external agencies.
• Interacts with Commissioners, City Council, attorneys, government and private agencies, complainants and the public.
• Reports to the Executive Director of the Commission on Human Relations.
