The City of Fairburn is seeking to fill an Deputy Court Clerk position who is an experienced, professional with extensive administrative and clerical duties that support the work of Municipal Court. Local or county government experience in a Municipal Court environment is a plus. This position reports to the Court Administrator.
Hiring Range: $19.77 - $21.75 Hourly Rate (Depending on qualifications)
Work Days/Hours: Monday – Friday
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

JOB SUMMARY
The Deputy Court Clerk is responsible for performing administrative and clerical duties in support of the work of the Municipal Court. Reports to the Court Administrator.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED (or equivalent); supplemented by one (1) years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Licenses or Certifications:
Valid State of Georgia driver’s license;
Special Requirements:
Requires an acceptable comprehensive background check to include a local and state criminal history check andsatisfactory results from pre-employment substance abusetesting. This position is deemed safety-sensitive and is subject to random alcohol and controlled substance testing.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Knowledge of basic arithmetic operations.
• Knowledge of policies and procedures of City and Department
• Knowledge of operation of a Municipal Court, ordinances, and state laws relating to traffic and other issues handled by Municipal Court.
• Knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes and regulations.
• Ability to provide guidance, assistance, and/or interpretation to others regarding the application of procedures and standards to specific situations.
• Ability to calculate decimals and percentages; ability to utilize principles of fractions; ability to interpret graphs.
• Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form. Involves semi-routine standardized work with some latitude for independent judgment concerning choices of action
• Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees and the public using principles of excellent customer service.
• Ability to collect fees and balance receipts.
• Ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in situations involving a variety of generally pre-defined duties which are often characterized by frequent change.
• Skill in operating modern office equipment, including computers and supporting word processing and Excel spreadsheet applications.
• Skill in effective customer service; excellent oral and written communication skills to satisfactorily resolve conflicts and issues; to explain established policies and procedures to employees and the general public.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force. Work requires ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight. Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station. Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in an office environment. Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
