Job summary

State of Oregon’s Department of Human Services seeks a Deputy Communications Director (CM2) to guide audience engagement, digital strategy, and content creation. You will lead a multidisciplinary team, use data to improve customer experience, and partner with agency leaders on priorities while managing high-profile issues.

You will drive innovative, accessible communications that connect Oregon communities with essential services and support ODHS’s equity goals while ensuring timely,

Qualifications

• Six years of supervision, management, or progressively related experience.
• OR three years of related experience and a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• A valid driver’s license or alternate transportation is needed.

Responsibilities

• Plan, oversee and optimize audience engagement, digital strategy, creative content and design.
• Lead analytics to measure KPIs, ROI, engagement, and conversions for ODHS services.
• Guide web, social media, multimedia, storytelling and digital platforms to simplify access to services.
• Supervise and mentor staff; foster collaboration and a psychologically safe environment.
• Champion plain-language, accessible information reflecting ODHS customers’ experiences.
• Advise agency leaders on engagement, media relations and emergencies.
