Job summary

The Illinois Tollway is seeking a Deputy Chief of Program Implementation to oversee design and construction, ensuring projects meet schedule, scope, and budget. This role reports to the Chief Engineering Officer and coordinates with management, contractors, and public agencies to deliver capital programs and customer service initiatives.

You will lead engineering staff, manage resources, and provide strategic input on engineering objectives, policies, and programs across the Tollway.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (or equivalent).
• 10+ years of highway planning, design or construction experience.
• 5 years of supervisory experience.
• Excellent analytical, verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Project and contract management experience.

Responsibilities

• Direct Tollway engineering staff including Senior Project Engineers and Managers.
• Oversee budgeting, scheduling, and the Quality program (ISO).
• Coordinate with agencies, municipalities, and contractors.
• Prepare confidential reports and analyses for executive staff.
• Represent the Tollway at meetings and act as spokesperson.
