Job summary

Chicago Public Schools seeks a Deputy Chief of Schools to support the Options Network Chief for a network of 38 high schools citywide. The role focuses on developing instructional leaders, coaching principals and operators, and driving school improvement across district-run, contract, and charter models.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university.
• Master’s degree in Education preferred.
• Illinois State Board of Education Professional Educator License (PEL) or Educator License with Stipulations, with a Principal or General Administrative endorsement.
• Three (3) years of teaching experience; urban setting preferred.
• Four (4) complete school years as a school principal or three (3) years admin + one (1) year urban setting preferred.
• Three (3) years coaching and mentoring educators preferred.
• Strong leadership and instructional leadership abilities; ability to guide schools to high expectations.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Chief of Schools to support Options school leaders and operators in the Network.
• Develop instructional leadership teams to create, monitor and adjust strategic plans.
• Support school improvement plans and change management processes at the school level.
• Provide actionable feedback to improve leadership practice and outcomes for students.
• Coach and develop Leadership Development Plans (LDPs) for principals and leaders.
• Manage evaluation and reporting for districts, contracts, and charters as needed.
• Collaborate with CPS and partners to raise graduation rates and postsecondary planning.
