The City of Avondale is seeking a Deputy Building Official to lead the Building Services Division within the Development Services Department. You will supervise plans examiners, building inspectors, and permit technicians, directing plan reviews and building inspections, while supporting the Chief Building Official in policy and process improvements.

The role emphasizes leadership, compliance with codes, and collaboration with City departments and external committees.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, Public or Business Administration, or related field preferred.
• Four (4) years of Architecture, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• One (1) year of supervisory or lead experience required.
• ICC Building Official certifications and related ICC certifications desired.
• Arizona Driver's License upon hire.

Responsabilidades

• Supervise and direct plan review, building inspections, and permit administration.
• Assist Chief Building Official in planning, organizing, and managing development processes.
• Provide customer outreach, support, and resolve issues for development services.
• Represent the City on committees and coordinate with other departments.
• Ensure policy compliance and continuous improvement in division operations.
