Job summary

The State of Montana seeks a Deputy Administrator of Operations to lead day-to-day operations for the Workforce Services Division, overseeing policy, data, and technology teams to turn strategy into action.

You will direct labor market analysis, reporting, and dashboards, ensuring evidence-based decisions for workforce programs and 406 JOBS Initiative. Strong leadership, policy, and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Five years of management or supervisory experience in workforce development or public administration.
• Experience using data, evidence, or feedback to rethink service delivery with tangible improvements.
• Experience working with public systems and translating complex policies into practical solutions.
• Proven ability to lead teams through change while maintaining trust and results.
• Strong communication skills to frame vision and gain support from leadership and partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day internal operations of the Workforce Services Division.
• Provide direct leadership to Policy, Economist, BLS, and Technology & Training teams.
• Direct labor market research, reporting, data analysis, and development of dashboards for policy.
• Translate federal guidance into actionable policy and operational plans.
• Oversee Montana's 406 JOBS Initiative implementation and evaluation.
• Oversee Talent Marketplace tech development and integration with credential registry and LERs.
• Guide managers in planning, prioritization, and problem solving to improve statewide services.
