Job summary

The City of Gainesville seeks a skilled Parks Maintenance Worker to perform semi-skilled and skilled craft work across city parks and recreation areas. You will operate and maintain equipment, install plantings, and assist in field upkeep under supervision.

Responsibilities include cleaning, minor repairs, and supporting events and programs while ensuring safety and quality standards in all duties.

Qualifications

• Completion of high school or GED and two or more years’ laboring experience with hand and power tools and motorized equipment.
• Prefer candidate with public chemical spraying experience.
• Knowledge of horticultural practices and tools used in landscape maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Install city trees, shrubs, and bedding plants including site preparation and watering.
• Operate mowers, tractors, load outlets and other equipment to maintain parks and athletic fields.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and repairs as needed.
• Conduct outdoor maintenance on fields, chalk lines, drag and water infields, and maintain facilities.
• Provide excellent customer service to visitors and assist in events and displays.
