Job summary

Georgia’s Own Credit Union is seeking a Deposit Operations Representative I to process deposits and payments received by mail, audit new account forms, and manage daily interoffice mail. The role supports VODs, ACH handling, and Special Account requests while ensuring regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate offers strong customer service, solid communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a hybrid office setting. Prior Georgia’s Own experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • One year banking/credit union experience preferred.
  • Basic understanding of credit report terminology and scoring.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with integrity.

  • Process deposits and payments received in the mail.
  • Audit new account forms and handle interoffice mail.
  • Process Verifications of Deposits including SSI verifications.
  • Assist Fraud department with postings and letters as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with Bank Secrecy Act and related policies.

We provide the necessary tools and technology to ensure seamless productivity, whether you're working from home or the office.SUMMARY:The Deposit Operations Representative I is responsible for processing deposits and payments received in the mail, auditing new account forms, daily sent interoffice mail, processing VODs, and monitoring inquiries sent to the Deposit Services email. Additional duties may be assigned including decisioning Special Account requests from branches and members.Job DescriptionESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Process deposits and payments received in the mail.Process returned checks from Payments department.Provide information concerning NCUA share insurance coverage.Process New Account Funding Daily and return ACH transactions.Performs the daily audit of new account forms sent interoffice mail.Barcode New Account and IRA Forms.Processes all Verification of Deposits including SSI verifications.Aid staff regarding documentation and identification requirements.Meet individual new account and developmental goals and cross functional duties as assigned.Comply with policies and procedures and understand changes in regulatory requirements, with particular attention to the Bank Secrecy Act, Patriot Act, and with robbery procedures.Review and advise on Special Account requests.Assist the Fraud department in posting Payrailz credits and mailing claim letters.Other duties as assigned.EDUCATIONAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:High School Diploma or Equivalent.One years’ work experience in the credit union or banking field.Minimum of six months Georgia’s Own experience.ADDITIONAL/IMPORTANT SKILLSETS:Must possess a basic understanding of credit report terminology and scoring.Excellent Customer Service Skills.Use of PC and other forms of technology used to gather and process member information.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Must possess a high degree of integrity and trust along with the ability to work independently.Ability to deal with member reaction in adverse situations.Ability to communicate with members and others at all levels of the Credit Union, in both written and verbal formats.Knowledge of current industry offers, market trends, competitors, and Credit Union member service policies and procedures.Demonstrates analytical thinking, problem solving, decision making, and judgment by gathering and applying relevant data to research and resolve issues.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:To perform this job successfully, the employee must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. All employees must be able to communicate face to face or through technology with or without reasonable accommodation. Employee will be in an office environment (well-lighted, heated, and air-conditioned) typically stationed at a desk or table. Employee will be asked to sit and stand for various increments of time, and to lift/push up 10 lbs. Clerical office duties on various forms of technology are required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions.All positions that have lending responsibilities must comply with all requirements under the SAFE ACT, as well as the Credit Union’s policies and procedures related to the SAFE ACT.
