Job summary

Fifth Third Bank in Cincinnati, Ohio is seeking a Deposit Ops Recon & Processing Specialist to support check adjustments, returns and exceptions. The role handles research, balances GL accounts, and processes daily production jobs to ensure proper posting and timely resolution of item holds.

You will collaborate with the processing team, maintain case files, and support retail products with accuracy and attention to risk and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of bank operations or relevant work experience.
• One year of work experience in accounting or bookkeeping knowledge.
• Data entry skills preferred.
• Familiarity with basic PC functions, specifically Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Customer focus.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Ability to maintain/organize accurate case files.

Responsibilities

• Post financial entries to clear deposit system rejects daily.
• Research and resolve outstanding items on the UDS suspense account.
• Balance several General Ledger accounts daily.
• Research and resolve exception items with pay/return decisions.
• Use multiple systems to identify resolutions; chargeback or return items.
• Execute monetary adjustments to internal accounts and external institutions.
• Prepare and distribute the Holds Report.
• Apply pay/return decisions to ensure timely return of checks/ACH with holds.
• Research and clear items on the Exceptions reject account.
• Monitor daily production jobs for returns and exceptions systems.
• Manual capture for returned checks.
• Reconcile return check files with other banks.
• Process daily payments by established deadlines.
• Research rejected payments and repair transactions.
• Maintenance for safe box and escrow accounts.
• Respond to management/customers for status/notes.
