The Department of Health and Human Services (State of Michigan) invites applications for a Departmental Analyst Trainee 9/9-P11. This role focuses on compliance data analysis for the Program Review Division, handling prior authorization data and regulatory requirements related to Medicaid/CSHCS.
The work includes preparing analytical reports and coordinating with management for complex issues. Remote or hybrid work may be considered; location is Lansing, MI.

In a learning capacity, this position is identified as the compliance data analyst for the Program Review Division (PRD). This position conducts research and analysis of prior authorization data and regulatory requirements related to health care prior authorization (PA) requirements for fee-for-service (FFS) Medicaid/Children’s Special Health Care Services (CSHCS). This position identifies compliance issues and establishes recommendations for program policies and operational procedures/strategies in order to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and provision of technical knowledge regarding coverage inquiries. This position interprets data and prepares reports of analytical findings, statistical summaries and conducts correspondence related to PRD compliance with MDHHS policy, state, and federal regulations. This position may rely on consultation with management for issues of higher-than-normal complexity such as broad-ranging implications beyond PRD (claims implications or potential need for amendment to Health Services policy or State Plan). This position will participate as an alternate to ensure operational turnaround time is met.

Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.
No specific type or amount is required.
One year of professional experience.
Two years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate (10) level in state service.
Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.
Four years of experience as an advanced 9-level worker in an ECP Group One classification.
OR
Three years of experience as an E9, E10, or E11-level worker in an ECP Group One classification.
OR
Two years of experience as an experienced level worker in an ECP Group One technician or paraprofessional classification.
OR
Two years of experience as a first-line supervisor in an ECP Group Three classification.
OR
One year of experience as a second-line supervisor in an ECP Group Three classification.
College credits may be substituted on a proportional basis (one year of college education may substitute for one quarter of the required experience) for up to one half of the required experience.
The position's level will be filled based on the selected candidate's qualifications as either a Departmental Analyst Trainee 9, 9, 10, or P11.
The physical location of this position is 400 S Pine St, Lansing, MI 48933. Based on operational needs and within established limits, remote work and alternate or hybrid work schedule requests for this position may be considered.
Selected candidates who have been approved to work remotely or a hybrid schedule must complete that work within Michigan. Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview.

Eligible full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 personal days and 13 sick days per year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.
