Job description

Primary Purpose of Position

The Operations Manager provides strategic oversight of departmental operations in the Department of Animal Sciences, supporting teaching, research, and student success initiatives. This role ensures effective asset management, space and facilities planning, and regulatory compliance, while serving as a key advisor to the Department Chair. The incumbent coordinates with university offices to maintain safe, functional, and innovative environments that align with institutional goals, including the pursuit of R1 research status.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM area with at least two years of laboratory research experience;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of research compliance standards, including laboratory safety protocols, equipment maintenance, and environmental health regulations;
  • Experience designing and implementing training programs, especially in academic or research settings;
  • Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills with an attention to detail and accuracy;
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate across units;
  • All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions;
Preferred
  • Master’s degree in a STEM area;
  • 3‑5 years of laboratory research experience or experience in operations management, laboratory oversight, facilities coordination;
  • Experience working in a university or research‑intensive environment;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional teams and work effectively with faculty, staff, students, and external partners;
