Job summary

MPM Retail Holdings, a Pet Supplies Plus franchisee, is seeking a Department Manager to lead an assigned store area as Manager on Duty. You will coach teammates, manage inventory, merchandising, and daily operations to maintain high neighbor service standards.

The role emphasizes accountability, problem-solving, and developing team members, with opportunities for growth within retail leadership across North and South Carolina. A flexible schedule is required to meet business needs.

Qualifications

• Previous retail or customer service experience required; leadership experience preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lead team members and hold others accountable to expectations.
• Ability to independently manage an assigned area of responsibility.
• Dependable with reliable transportation.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs.
• Ability to climb ladders, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to safely operate required store equipment after completing appropriate training.

Responsibilities

• Effectively lead the store as Manager on Duty and provide direction, coaching, and support to team members.
• Take ownership of an assigned department or business function and ensure expectations are consistently met.
• Monitor results within the assigned area, identify opportunities, and partner with store management on solutions.
• Train and coach team members on procedures related to the assigned area of responsibility.
• Reinforce expectations for neighbor service, teamwork, productivity, and professionalism.
• Assist with onboarding, training, and development of team members.
• Support opening and closing procedures, cash controls, deposits, and back-office responsibilities.
• Support daily stocking, merchandising, inventory accuracy, price changes, animal care, and overall store readiness.
• Maintain standards for cleanliness, safety, security, and store conditions.
• Communicate performance, staffing, operational, and safety concerns to store management.
• Support additional store priorities as directed by leadership.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
