Job summary

Vallourec is seeking an Accessories Department Manager to lead accessory production within company goals and standards. The role combines technical and administrative duties with direct supervision of salaried and hourly staff in a manufacturing setting.

The position emphasizes Lean manufacturing, quality control, safety, and continuous improvement, requiring a bachelor’s degree in engineering, 5+ years supervisory experience, and strong collaboration with Sales, R&D, and Industrial Excellence

Qualifications

  • Bachelors in engineering or related field; Masters preferred.
  • 5+ years supervisory experience in manufacturing, production control, engineering or quality.
  • 5+ years direct metalworking shop experience or 5+ years as an engineer in manufacturing; 2 years oilfield-related products experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage policy deployment in Lean Manufacturing, quality, cost reduction, on-time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, visual controls and metrics.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects to optimize resource efficiency via process or capital investments.
  • Daily monitoring of machines, finishing, and assembly to meet quality standards via GEMBA.
  • Participate in management reviews of the quality system and review quality reports.
  • Define personnel qualification requirements for accessories personnel and conduct training.
  • Develop and implement personnel and equipment requirements to meet company goals; report to upper management as needed.
  • Implement and carry out safety and loss prevention activities in the department.
  • Lead departmental operational and financial reviews; manage budgets and capitalize as approved.
  • Ensure internal control compliance of the department.
  • Collaborate with Sales, R&D, TCC, and Industrial Excellence to optimize capabilities and customer satisfaction.
  • Prepare standard operating procedures for departmental manufacturing operations.
  • Analyze rework and scrap to propose improvements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The Accessories Department Manager is responsible for managing accessory production within the goals and standards of the Company. A strategic and senior line-management position involving technical and administrative duties, coupled with direct manufacturing and production control responsibilities. Position involves direct supervision of salaried and hourly personnel.


Your Role at a Glance


  • Manage policy deployment in the areas of Lean Manufacturing techniques, quality, cost reduction, complete and on-time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, visual controls and departmental performance measures.

  • Lead continuous improvement projects through process changes, operational investments, or capital investments to ensure optimization of resource efficiency.

  • Daily monitoring and management of machines, finishing, and assembly through GEMBA to ensure quality standards are met.

  • Participate in management reviews of the quality system, including the preparation, response, and review of pertinent quality reports.

  • Define personnel qualification requirements for accessories personnel. Organize, initiate, and conduct training to meet the requirements. Assist in all stages of the employee training program.

  • Evaluate, develop, and direct the implementation of personnel and equipment requirements to meet the goals and standards of the Company. Track and report compliance with these goals and standards to upper management as needed.

  • Responsible for implementing and carrying out the Company’s safety and loss prevention activities in the department.

  • Lead the department’s operational and financial reviews. Maintain operational and capital budget performance for the department and implement these budgets as approved by management.

  • Responsible for internal control compliance of the department.

  • Work closely with Sales, R&D, TCC, and Industrial Excellence to ensure optimal capabilities and customer satisfaction.

  • Responsible for the preparation of standard operating procedures for departmental manufacturing operations.

  • Analyze and evaluate rework and scrap to make recommendations for improvement.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
