Job summary

Pharmavite is seeking a Department Leader to manage daily operations for a production department, driving safety, quality, cost, and reliability. You will lead a team of up to 25 employees, coach staff, and align performance with the company’s purpose and continuous improvement mindset.

The role requires a four-year degree, minimum four years in a manufacturing environment with supervisory experience, and proficiency with MRP/WMS systems.

Qualifications

• A four-year degree or equivalent experience is required.
• Six Sigma and/or Lean/Continuous Improvement experience preferred.
• Internal Lean Green Belt certification and Kata training within one year is desired.
• Minimum four years’ experience in a Manufacturing/CPG environment with supervisory leadership is required.

Position Summary:

The Department Leader is responsible for managing the daily operations of an assigned Department and achieving daily, weekly, and monthly results in the areas of safety, quality, cost, productivity, and reliability while meeting department schedule adherence and attainment goals. They model Pharmavite’s purpose, beliefs, and values for their employees by embedding a first-time right mentality and promoting robust root cause problem solving/CAPA development capability within their team, to attain goals to deliver customer requirements. Additionally, they are responsible for executing improvement plans and building team capabilities through training, coaching, feedback, and performance management.

Responsibilities:

• Executes the Annual Operating Plan for their assigned Department, aligning goals and objectives to the company’s strategic vision, and ensures operating expenditures meet or exceed expectations.
• Leads and sets the standard and tone for their team by modeling Pharmavite’s purpose, beliefs, and values while driving meeting schedule adherence and attainment goals to deliver customer requirements.
• Prioritize work to ensure productivity, safety, housekeeping, and quality product goals are met/exceeded; coordinate daily scheduling with other departments to facilitate flow of materials and finished goods through the department.
• Monitor operations of the shift while sustaining changes to ensure a first-time-right mentality.
• Accountable for team performance through teaching, coaching, and providing meaningful feedback to build capabilities and to drive a culture of high performance and engagement.
• Collaborate with Production Planning, Quality Assurance, Maintenance, Distribution, HR, Tech Ops, Engineering, Planning, Operational Excellence, and Receiving departments to expedite and facilitate flow of raw materials, compounds, bulk, and finished product through the department.
• Investigate NCRs working in partnership with Quality to drive root cause problem-solving with urgency.
• Champion/Coaches teams on Autonomous Maintenance projects and daily improvement initiatives.
• Perform analysis of raw material usage and product yields to ensure standards are met or exceeded.
• Ensure safe practices are followed and that unsafe behaviors and conditions are corrected.
• Provide technical support for staff with equipment and processes (troubleshoots and develops control techniques).
• Oversee and ensure operating expenditures meet or exceed expectations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education:

• A four-year degree or its equivalent combination of education/relevant work experience is required.

Certification:

• Six Sigma and/or Lean/Continuous Improvement experience preferred.
• Obtain internal Lean Green Belt certification and Kata learner within one year of employment.

Experience:

• Requires a minimum of four years’ experience in a Manufacturing/Consumer-Packaged Goods environment, to include supervisory/leadership experience. Specific experience in the department to which applied is preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Competent knowledge of SOPs and cGMPs within a CPG environment
• Experience working within a rapidly evolving environment, able to adjust to changing job requirements.
• Experience leading and coaching AM projects.
• Experience performing auditing in areas related to cGMPs, Batch Record Accuracy, and TPM requirements.
• Good organizational, analytical, problem-solving, oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, JD Edwards MRP, and PowerPoint preferred.
• Working knowledge in MRP, WMS, & radio frequency systems.
• Ability to lead delivery of required results in safety, quality, productivity, and cost each shift, ensuring that succeeding shifts are set up for success.
• Experience coaching, developing, and building high-performing teams; including cross-training and empowering individuals.
• Ability to prioritize and delegate operational tasks and duties.

Environment:

• Exposure to disagreeable elements as may be found in a typical manufacturing environment is moderate but constant.
• May stand and walk around for a majority of their shift on concrete floors.
• Must be able to work 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM on a 2-2-3 shift schedule.

Safety:

• The incumbent must be able to perform this job safely without endangering the health or safety of self or others.

Supervisory Responsibility:

• The incumbent has direct supervisory responsibility for up to 25 employees.

Travel:

• Up to 10%; will require more extensive travel during the first year to onboard, train in assigned dosage form, and qualify new equipment.

National Target Base Pay Range: $80,000.00 - $133,000.00.

The salary range for this position is based on national standards. For candidates in California and the New York metro, the Target Base Pay Range is $88,000.00 - $146,000.00, to reflect the cost of living and market conditions in those areas.

Actual compensation will take into account a wide range of factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographic location, education, experience, qualifications, and job-related skills. It is not typical for an individual to be hired above the midpoint of the range for their role, and compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. Base pay is only one component of our total rewards offerings, and we will take the full offering into consideration when presenting an offer of employment.
