Position Summary:
Rutgers University-Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution located in Newark, New Jersey, is seeking a Department Administrator SPVR for the Center for Molecular and Behavioral Neuroscience (CMBN). Reporting to the Co-Director of CMBN, this Department Administrator is responsible for the administrative, personnel, and business functions of CMBN.
This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Coordinating and overseeing administrative functions and operations.
- Managing human resources and payroll.
- Supervising Center staff.
- Responsibility for funds, including restricted, unrestricted, grant, and faculty projects.
- Reconciling accounts.
- Overseeing support for academic programs.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, stakeholder-focused team environment and skillfully and professionally handle multiple shifting priorities, interacting successfully with various individuals and stakeholders at all levels of the University community.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Requires a bachelor's degree; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates comprehensive knowledge and understanding of administration.
- Also requires a minimum of two years of relevant experience in an administrative function, excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, and strong computer literacy.

- Regularly and extensively uses MS Office Suite, Cornerstone, Discoverer/Tableau, Infosilem Data Collection Utility (DCU), Course Scheduling System, REGIS, ROCS, RAPSS, Researcher's Dashboard, HCM, ECRT, SASN appointments system, Grad Portal, Sakai, Canvas, and knows or will learn any and all systems Rutgers University (RU) uses for human resources and payroll, budget, academic and student support, proposal submissions, grants management and accounting, travel and expense reimbursement, parking, procurement, telephones, recruitment, performance management, absence reporting, course scheduling, facilities and space management, web and social media; and knows or will learn all the equipment, software, and specialized materials needed to support the effective and efficient performance of this position.
