Job summary

Union Community Care seeks a dentist to provide basic primary dental care for its patient population. The role requires licensure in Pennsylvania and a D.D.S./D.M.D. degree with successful credentialing through UCC.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of credentialing process at UCC.
  • English proficiency required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide basic primary dental care including diagnostic, preventive, restorative, periodontal, oral surgery, and endodontic services.
  • Refer to specialists when procedures exceed scope.
  • Facilitate patient oral health education and outreach.
  • Maintain compliant documentation in patient charts.
  • Code procedures accurately and obtain pre-authorization where required.
  • Coordinate with dental assistants and front office staff.

Provide basic primary dental care for patients including diagnostic, preventive, restorative, periodontal, oral surgery, and anterior endodontic services2. Provide patient referrals to specialists when procedures fall outside the scope of service the provider is able to provide, impacted teeth, surgical periodontal and endodontic procedures, and orthodontic procedures3. Facilitate oral health education for patients both clinically and in outreach settings4. Consult with patients’ physicians when appropriate5. Maintain legible, legal documentation in patient charts as directed by department policies6. Participate in continuing education to stay abreast on new techniques and procedures in the field of dentistryBilling7. Accurately code procedures following each dental visit8. Follow procedures for ensuring prior authorization is received before initiation of the procedures that require pre-authorizationMiscellaneous Duties:9. Provide guidance and direction for dental assistants and front office staff10. Provide off-hours telephone coverage for dental patients of UCC11. Participate in any meeting, seminars, or training sessions as directed by the Dental Director or CEO12. Consult with patients’ physicians when appropriate13. Perform other work-related duties as assignedPOSITION REQUIREMENTSActive Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Dental LicenseActive DEA Number at UCCDental Degree (D.D.S. or D.M.D.) from Accredited Dental SchoolSuccessful completion of UCC’s credentialing processParticipation in all insurance plans that UCC acceptsEnglish proficiency requiredESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSIn order to fulfill the requirements of this position, duties 1-13 are considered essential functions of the job.ORGANIZATIONAL INVOLVEMENTThis position is required to participate in mandatory all staff meetings, team meetings and trainings.
