Job Title: Part Time Dentist
Pay Rate: $65 - $100 per hour
*20 hours per week*
At CoreCivic, we do more than manage inmates; we care for people. We are seeking a PART TIME Dentist who is passionate about providing high-quality care in an institutional setting.
The Part Time Dentist is responsible for delivering professional dental care to inmates/residents.
The successful candidate should be able to perform all the following functions at a pace and level of performance consistent with the job requirements:
- Perform routine dental treatments including examinations, x-rays, fillings, extractions, cleanings, dentures, and root canals as needed.
- Diagnose and develop treatment plans for inmates/residents.
- Develop and supervise the facility's dental program, including educating inmates/residents on dental health.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate subordinate staff.
- Coordinate with other healthcare staff and external providers for specialized or emergency dental care.
- Manage dental supplies, medications, and equipment inventory.
- Maintain a clean work environment, adhering to sanitation and infection control standards.
- Keep accurate dental records, reports, and logs, ensuring confidentiality and security.
- Audit dental files and monitor contractual dental services.
- Coordinate external dental services and review requests for records.
- Assist in preparing the facility's dental budget and manage expenses.
- Evaluate operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness of dental services.
- Supervise pharmacy use and compliance with pharmacy laws, especially regarding controlled substances.
- Monitor inmate/resident behavior and safety practices.
- Maintain and order dental equipment and supplies.
- Inspect for contraband and ensure secure storage of supplies.
- Participate in safety and emergency procedures, including incident reporting and investigations.
- Communicate effectively with staff, inmates, visitors, and the public, demonstrating tact and professionalism.
- Handle legal and governmental documentation accurately and efficiently.
- Coordinate inmate movement for dental treatments.
- Respond to emergencies, including administering first aid and evacuations.
- Adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and policies, and maintain alertness for safety.
Qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited dental school and licensure as a dentist in the state of employment.
- At least one year of experience preferred; excellent communication skills required.
- A valid driver’s license is preferred but not mandatory.
- Knowledge of correctional facility operations and regulations.
- Minimum age: 18 years old.
