Summary

This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT. Applications will be referred once every 15 days. The duty location for the Dentist - Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon is at Sepulveda Dental Clinic. The Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon must be American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery board certified or board eligible, have completed an ADA-accredited DDS/DMD program, possess a minimum of 4 years of ADA-accredited training in Oral Surgery, and hold a state license.

Duties

• VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package.
• The individual will be experienced and competent in all phases of OMS, including dentoalveolar surgery, complex dental extractions, treatment of orofacial infections, trauma, preprosthetic surgery, placement of osseointegrated implants, diagnostic procedures, surgical treatment of oral and maxillofacial pathosis, and grafting procedures.
• Must be proficient in assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and post-treatment care in all the above areas.
• Trained and competent in providing IV moderate sedation and certified in ACLS.
• Able to manage medically complex patients, including inpatients, and perform histories and physicals.
• Must collaborate effectively with other dental and medical professionals, including residents and other dental specialties.
• Assignment includes advanced use of computerized record systems.
• Oversees and assigns duties to Dental Assistants.
• Develops and supervises rotation programs for students and residents to promote professional development and operational efficiency.
• Evaluates employee performance and reports to the supervisor.
• Notifies supervisors of performance issues.
