Summary
This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT. Applications will be referred once every 15 days. The duty location for the Dentist - Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon is at Sepulveda Dental Clinic. The Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon must be American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery board certified or eligible, have completed an ADA-accredited DDS/DMD program, and hold a valid state license.
Duties
- VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package.
- The individual will be experienced and competent in all phases of OMS, including dentoalveolar surgery, complex dental extractions, treatment of orofacial infections, trauma, preprosthetic surgery, placement of implants, diagnostic procedures, surgical treatment of pathosis, and grafting procedures.
- Proficiency in assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and post-treatment care in all the above areas is required.
- Must be trained and competent in providing IV moderate sedation and certified in ACLS.
- Ability to manage medically complex patients, including inpatients, and perform comprehensive history and physical examinations.
- Must work collegially with other dental and medical professionals and possess interpersonal and professional skills to collaborate with residents and other dental specialties.
- Assignment includes advanced use of the computerized record system.
- Oversees and assigns duties to Dental Assistants assigned to the OMS.
- Develops and supervises a rotation program for university affiliates, residents, and VA Dental Residents to enhance operational efficiency and professional development.
- Evaluates employee performance and reports to the first-line supervisor.
- Notifies the Supervisory Dental Assistant of any performance issues.
- Work Schedule: 8 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday.
