Job summary

Qualifications

• Knowledge of modern dentistry and oral hygiene.
• Supervisory principles and practices.

Responsibilities

• Develops and administers a program of preventive dentistry and delivery of treatment to consumers.
• Participates in the integration of the dental program with other programs of the institution.
• Determines the oral health of the patient and the adjacent structures through examinations (visual, digital, x-ray).
• Recommends a treatment plan based on pathology and examination and completes necessary operative procedures.
• Evaluates oral pathology and refers to oral surgery clinics as needed.
• Administers prophylaxis and instruction in oral hygiene.
• Ensures records, maintenance, and care of equipment and clinic sites are conducted.
• Assists with facility planning and equipment, supplies, and staffing needs.
• Trains, supervises, and leads dentists, hygienists, dental assistants, and other dental employees.
• Collaborates with other state agencies to benefit consumers of dental health care.
