Job description

The Durham Health Care System is currently looking to hire one (1) part-time General Staff Dentist who will perform a full range of professional dental procedures in connection with the treatment of commonly encountered dental diseases or dental health problems requiring standard corrective, restorative, or preventive measures.

Responsibilities

1. Job Description/Scope of Practice: The General Practice Staff Dentist services as a practicing dentist who performs a full range of professional dental procedures for the treatment of common dental diseases and health problems, including corrective, restorative, and preventive measures.
2. Proficiency: The dentist should be proficient in all aspects of general dentistry, including the ability to perform selected specialty services.
3. Specific Skills: The provider should possess the expertise and competency to:
   • Make oral and radiographic examinations of the oral cavity
   • Diagnose pathological or irregular oral conditions
   • Administer local anesthesia
   • Perform routine and complex restorations of teeth
   • Perform simple and complex extractions of teeth
   • Perform alveoloplasty and other routine surgical procedures
   • Perform prosthetic dentistry, including immediate dentures, full dentures, partial dentures, crowns, and fixed bridge work
   • Perform routine endodontic procedures on single and multi-canal teeth
   • Perform routine and surgical periodontal procedures

• Work Schedule: Part-time, Monday/Wednesday/Friday 7:00 am to 5:30 pm (subject to change based on agency needs)
