Job summary

Mountain State Oral & Facial Surgery seeks a skilled Surgical Assistant to support our oral and maxillofacial surgeons. Join a multi-state network focused on clinical excellence, patient-centered care, and efficient surgical workflow throughout procedures.

Duties include charting, assisting during examinations and procedures, imaging, consent handling, and post-op monitoring, all while maintaining HIPAA compliance and a high standard of patient safety.

Qualifications

• Certification as a Surgical Assistant or relevant training in surgical assisting preferred.
• Experience in an oral surgery, dental surgery, or medical surgical setting strongly preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients, physicians, and team members.
• Strong knowledge of surgical instruments, sterilization procedures, and operating room protocols.
• Excellent attention to detail, ability to multitask, and maintain focus in a high-pressure environment.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills to work collaboratively with surgeons, nurses, and staff.
• Ability to follow strict infection control and safety guidelines.
• Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and compassionate care.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
• Assist physicians during patient examinations and procedures.
• Perform diagnostic imaging, including X-rays, as needed.
• Review and document patient medical histories.
• Ensure all required consent forms are properly completed and signed.
• Prepare and process patient prescriptions with accuracy.
• Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, EKG, and pulse oximetry.
• Accurately document anesthesia records and patient charting.
• Maintain patient airways during sedation and perform suctioning when necessary.
• Provide post-operative monitoring and remain with patients until released to a caregiver.
• Prepare and sanitize surgical and examination rooms.
• Assist with ongoing surgical procedures as needed.
• Uphold strict patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
• Support overall clinic operations by maintaining patient flow and completing additional duties assigned by the Clinical Manager.
