dfwHR is seeking a Dental Practice Manager for a pediatric dental practice in Humble, TX. The role requires ownership of operations, profitability, and team leadership, with a focus on growth and quality patient care.
The director of operations will drive strategies to optimize scheduling, production, collections, and staff development while collaborating closely with ownership to implement improvements and scalable processes.
Our client in Humble, Texas, has an immediate need for an experienced Dental Practice Manager to oversee the daily operations, financial performance, team leadership, and continued growth of an established pediatric dental practice. This is a direct hire opportunity for a results driven dental operations professional who wants to take ownership of an entire practice rather than simply manage daily schedules and employees. The ideal candidate will bring a strong combination of dental practice operations, financial management, team leadership, and business development experience. We are looking for an operator, not simply an office manager. This individual must be comfortable making decisions, identifying opportunities for improvement, implementing solutions, and taking accountability for measurable results.
Our client is an established, independently owned pediatric dental practice serving children and families throughout the Humble and surrounding Houston communities. The practice has been operating for approximately 11 years and provides comprehensive pediatric dental services, including preventive care, restorative dentistry, sedation services, and general anesthesia. The organization is also expanding its orthodontic services. The practice is entering an exciting phase of operational improvement and growth, creating an opportunity for an experienced leader to make a meaningful impact on its future.
The Director of Operations / Practice Manager will assume responsibility for the overall business and operational performance of the practice, working directly with ownership to strengthen profitability, improve patient experience, develop the team, and drive sustainable growth.
Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficient scheduling, patient flow, staffing, and resource utilization. Monitor production, collections, accounts receivable, labor costs, and overall practice profitability. Analyze key performance indicators and develop measurable improvement strategies. Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, reduce unnecessary expenses, and increase production. Develop and maintain budgets while evaluating spending decisions based on return on investment. Establish consistent reporting processes and communicate performance results to ownership. Implement operational systems that allow the practice to function effectively with minimal daily owner involvement.
Lead, coach, and develop administrative and clinical support employees. Take ownership of staffing decisions, scheduling, recruiting, onboarding, performance management, and employee retention. Establish clear expectations and accountability throughout the practice. Address performance concerns and operational challenges proactively. Develop staffing strategies that balance employee stability, patient demand, and labor costs. Support recruitment and onboarding of associate dentists in coordination with ownership. Foster a positive, professional, and performance driven workplace culture.
Develop and execute strategies to increase patient volume, production, and practice profitability. Improve appointment scheduling, treatment acceptance, patient retention, and recall processes. Identify opportunities to reduce cancellations, no shows, and unused appointment capacity. Support strategies to expand the practice's commercially insured and PPO patient population. Collaborate with marketing resources to evaluate advertising effectiveness and generate measurable results. Develop community outreach initiatives and referral relationships with schools, physicians, and other local organizations. Track marketing performance, patient acquisition, and return on investment. Identify opportunities to improve provider utilization and maximize available appointment capacity.
Ensure exceptional patient and family experiences throughout the practice. Oversee front office operations, patient communications, appointment coordination, and service recovery. Maintain high standards of professionalism, regulatory compliance, and patient safety. Utilize dental practice management software to monitor performance and improve workflows. Support the implementation and optimization of Dentrix Ascend. Establish regular team meetings, performance reviews, and operational reporting. Develop sustainable processes that support continued practice growth.
The ideal candidate is a confident, commercially minded dental operations leader who has demonstrated the ability to improve practice performance through effective leadership, financial discipline, and operational execution. This person does not simply identify problems or make recommendations. They take ownership, develop practical solutions, implement changes, and measure results. A successful candidate will have a track record of improving practice production, strengthening team performance, managing expenses, and developing strategies that support sustainable growth. This is an opportunity for someone who wants to run a practice like a business while maintaining an exceptional standard of patient care.
