Job description

Position Summary:

Responsible for recruiting and maintaining Delta Dental participating dentist networks throughout Virginia. Responds to requests for dentist recruitment from other Delta Dental Member Companies, Marketing and Sales staff and performs other targeted recruitment as directed. Uses dental office experience to build trusted relationships with dentists and dental office staff. Conducts orientation meetings with participating dental offices, including new office onboarding, education, website and dentist portal navigation support, and ongoing assistance. Represents Delta Dental at meetings and conferences. Coordinates network seminars and DDVA-sponsored continuing education programs in Virginia, including identifying relevant educational topics, securing speakers, and managing event logistics.

The candidate for this position will need to reside in the Central Region of Virginia.

Essential Functions

• Builds and maintains strong relationships with participating dentists and dental office staff to support network retention, recruitment, education, and ongoing communication needs.
• Serves as a primary point of contact for dental offices, providing exceptional customer service and support while fostering positive working relationships with dentists and office teams.
• Provides dental offices with support and training on how to navigate and utilize Delta Dental’s dentist website and portal.
• Uses knowledge of dental office operations, dental terminology, and CDT codes to assist dental offices with administrative questions and connect them with the appropriate internal departments for more complex issues, ensuring timely follow-up and resolution.
• Conducts orientation and onboarding meetings with newly participating dentist and dental office staff.
• Meets goals for network size in identified areas of the state.
• Works with the Delta Dental leadership to support targeted dentist recruitment and network growth initiatives in specific geographic areas and for specific networks (e.g., PPO and DeltaCare)
• Identifies dental industry and practice trends and uses that information to support network retention and growth.
• Represents Delta Dental at dental meetings and conferences
• Identifies key dental meetings and conferences, coordinates exhibit booth participation, and manages event logistics.
• Works with Dental Director, plans, schedules and coordinates DDVA sponsored continuing education courses for dentists and auxiliary staff
• Develops network specific educational Power Point presentations for dentists/dental offices and related groups
• Meets deadlines for submitting expense reports and other internal reporting requirements.
• Maintains travel expenses within established annual travel budget. Variance of travel exceeding budget or other budget variances discussed in advance

Qualifications/Education/Experience:

• Minimum of five years of experience in the dental industry, including experience working in a dental office environment.
• Experience as a dental office manager, practice administrator, insurance coordinator, treatment coordinator, business assistant, or similar dental office role is strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of dental office operations, dental terminology, CDT codes, dental benefits, and claims submission processes.
• Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with dentists and dental office staff.
• Requires excellent customer service, communication, presentation, and follow-up skills.
• Experience providing education, training, account management, customer service, or relationship support to dentists and dental office staff is preferred.
• Knowledge of credentialing processes, provider enrollment, and dental network administration is preferred.
• Requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence, collaborate, and build trust with internal and external stakeholders.
• This position requires regular travel throughout Virginia to visit dental offices, attend meetings, conferences, and educational events. Use of a personal vehicle and a valid driver's license are required.
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, and the ability to utilize reporting and analytical tools is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to achieve results through collaboration and relationship management.
• Ability to think and plan strategically to support organizational and network growth goals.
• Associate degree required; Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.

The salary range for this role is $70,000 - $85,000 annually. This range reflects base salary only; additional bonus and incentive opportunities are available. Placement within the range is commensurate with the skills, experience, and contributions each candidate brings to the role.
