Dental Member Assistant - Call-in/On-Call

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Dental Office Manager/Dental Contact Center Supervisor or their delegate, facilitate a smooth patient service process from appointment scheduling to office visit completion. Support other staff functions to meet members' needs.

Essential Responsibilities
  1. All Dental Facilities: Communicate effectively with members and staff, provide and request information, assist in patient care, explain services, and represent Kaiser Permanente positively. For Dental Offices: manage patient check-in/check-out, maintain schedules, document visits, verify and update personal data, handle payments, and schedule appointments. Ensure prompt patient attention and accurate record-keeping.
  2. Dental Contact Center/Staff Scheduling Center: Schedule patient appointments, manage calls, confirm or reschedule as needed, handle emergency scheduling, and maintain knowledge of provider protocols. Respond to staff inquiries and support department performance targets.
  3. Work Environment and Conduct: Follow policies for time management, maintain confidentiality, demonstrate professionalism, and provide courteous service to members and staff both in person and on the phone.
Experience
  • Minimum of 6 months in healthcare/dental care or cash handling/customer service in a high-volume environment.
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
Additional Requirements
  • Excellent communication skills in English, organizational skills, flexibility, professional demeanor, and courteous interaction with members.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years dental office experience, dental and computer skills.
Notes
  • Work schedule varies, including weekends. Position is part of a Replacement Pool, eligible for differential pay. Locations include Keizer, N Lancaster, Skyline, Eugene dental.
