Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Dental Assistant for the John D. Dingell VA Outpatient dental clinic. The incumbent will assist dentists in routine and complex procedures, perform radiography, and ensure infection control and patient education are maintained at high standards.

Responsibilities include four-handed dentistry, imaging, and documentation in the EMR, with a focus on quality care for eligible veterans. A CODA-accredited program and English proficiency are required.

Qualifications

• Completion of a CODA-accredited dental assisting program or equivalent experience.
• Eligibility for radiology credentialing as required by law and VA standards.
• Good command of English, both spoken and written.
• Knowledge of infection control, instrument handling, and typical dental procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist dentists in routine and complex procedures with four-handed dentistry.
• Capture and process dental radiographs and manage imaging records.
• Maintain infection control and instrument sterilization per SOPs.
• Provide patient education on oral hygiene and treatment plans.
• Facilitate patient scheduling and records entry in the EMR system.
