Job summary

Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT is seeking a full-time dental hygienist to provide comprehensive hygiene services to patients of all ages, document treatment results, and assist with assigned duties across campus.

The role emphasizes preventive care, radiographs, fluoride applications, and patient education, with opportunities to participate in the soft tissue management program and work under supervision.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or certificate in dental hygiene.
• Current licensure in Connecticut.

Responsibilities

• Provide dental hygiene services to children, adolescent, adult, geriatric, and medically compromised patients.
• Prepare and clean operatory implements recall system.
• Perform hygiene services as observed by supervisor.
• Perform prophylaxis, scaling and root planning.
• Participate in the soft tissue management program.
• Apply topical fluoride and apply scalants to teeth.
• Demonstrate and evaluate oral hygiene techniques and explain progress of periodontal disease.
• Advise doctor of need for local anesthetic as indicated by patient response to treatment or as documented in the patient\'s record.
• Take radiographs on children, adolescent, adult, geriatric patients.
• Record medical history and collect patient data on patients.

Education

Partial access to medications is given to the incumbent of this position because they are required by their job responsibilities to transport or stock medications to approved medication storage locations
