Job summary

Prairie Band Health Service seeks a Dental Hygienist to provide professional dental care at Woodrow Wilson Keeble Memorial Healthcare Center, 100 Lake Traverse Drive, Sisseton, SD 57262.

You will perform periodontal therapy, radiographs, charting, patient education, and chairside support with dentists, while maintaining infection control and clinic records; requires CODA-accredited program, licensure, BLS, and 3 years of experience.

Qualifications

• CODA-accredited dental hygiene program required.
• Current, active dental hygiene license in the United States.
• BLS certification required; minimum 3 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform full range periodontal therapy including scaling/root planing.

Hours of Operation: normal clinic hours and shifts, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday except Federal holidays

Duties:

Performing full range periodontal therapy including supra and sub-gingival prophylaxis, periodontal maintenance and scaling/root planning.

Hygienists provide patient education on oral hygiene, nutrition, and oral cancer prevention, while advocating patient comfort and effective treatment strategies.

Hygienists are required to take appropriate radiographs, perform periodontal charting and provide chairside exam assistance with dentists.

Clerical duties of maintaining patient records, and scheduling appointments Infection control duties include instrument reprocessing following applicable guidelines and service unit policies.

Requirements

• Must have successfully completed an accredited dental hygiene program recognized by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA)
• Possess and maintain a current, active, full, and unrestricted licenses to practice dental hygiene in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
• Have three (3) years’ experience
• Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
