Job summary

Prairie Band Health Service seeks a Dental Hygienist to provide high-quality care at Woodrow Wilson Keeble Memorial Healthcare Center in Sisseton, SD. The role includes prophylaxis, periodontal maintenance, radiographs, charting, and chairside support for dentists.

Expect responsibilities such as patient education, infection control, records maintenance, and coordination of appointments. Local or locum candidates are welcome; standard clinic hours apply Monday–Friday, with a professional team

Qualifications

• CODA-accredited dental hygiene program required.
• Current license to practice dental hygiene in the United States or territories.
• Minimum of three years’ experience.
• Maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform full range periodontal therapy including prophylaxis, scaling and root planing.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene, nutrition, and cancer prevention.
• Take radiographs, perform periodontal charting, and assist dentists chairside.
• Maintain patient records and scheduling; infection control duties per guidelines.

Hours of Operation: normal clinic hours and shifts, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday except Federal holidays

Duties:

Performing full range periodontal therapy including supra and sub-gingival prophylaxis, periodontal maintenance and scaling/root planning.

Hygienists provide patient education on oral hygiene, nutrition, and oral cancer prevention, while advocating patient comfort and effective treatment strategies.

Hygienists are required to take appropriate radiographs, perform periodontal charting and provide chairside exam assistance with dentists.

Clerical duties of maintaining patient records, and scheduling appointments Infection control duties include instrument reprocessing following applicable guidelines and service unit policies.

Requirements

• Must have successfully completed an accredited dental hygiene program recognized by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA)
• Possess and maintain a current, active, full, and unrestricted licenses to practice dental hygiene in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
• Have three (3) years’ experience
• Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
