Clinical Essential Functions

1. Examine patients' oral cavities and record conditions.
2. Refer patients to dentists for anomalies or issues.
3. Apply desensitizing and topical agents as needed.
4. Perform oral prophylaxis, including cleaning and polishing teeth, and administer anesthesia when necessary.
5. Take and interpret dental radiographs.
6. Record medical history and treatments.
7. Maintain and sterilize dental instruments.
8. Follow infection control protocols.
9. Educate patients on oral hygiene techniques and health.
10. Ensure patient confidentiality and adhere to policies.

Preventive and Administrative Duties

1. Educate patients on oral health and diet links to dental health.
2. Contribute to community health education and outreach.
3. Assist in policy development and staff training.
4. Participate in staff meetings and additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Washington State Dental Hygienist License
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid certification
• 15 hours of continuing education annually
• Knowledge of dental procedures, anatomy, radiology, and preventive dentistry
• Skills in prophylactic procedures and patient education
• Computer literacy and ability to learn dental software
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Valid Washington Driver’s License and ability to pass background checks
