Father Joe’s Villages in San Diego, CA, is seeking a part-time Dental Hygienist to support patients experiencing homelessness and barriers to care. Under Dental Director supervision, you will perform cleanings, periodontal care, radiographs, and patient education, while ensuring thorough documentation in the electronic health record.

Qualified candidates hold a California RDH license, have 3+ years of clinical hygiene experience including periodontal care, radiography skills, and a current BLS

• Current California RDH license in good standing.
• Graduation from an accredited dental hygiene program.
• At least three years of recent clinical hygiene experience including preventative and periodontal care.
• Experience with dental radiography and electronic clinical documentation.
• Current BLS certification or ability to obtain within required timeframe.

Responsabilidades

Help make quality dental care more accessible.As a Dental Hygienist you will help clients build confidence and access the care they need to thrive. The Part-Time Dental Hygienist provides skilled, patient-centered dental care to people experiencing homelessness, housing instability, and other barriers to healthcare.Working under general supervision of the Dental Director, you will conduct assessments, perform cleaning sand periodontal procedures, take dental radiographs, provide preventative treatments and education, and work closely with the dentist and healthcare team to support coordinated care.The RoleAssess oral health and identify concerns that may require further evaluation or referral.Provide preventative and periodontal care including cleanings, scaling and root planning, and other treatments within scope.Educate and empower patients with practical guidance on oral hygiene and treatment recommendations.Build trust through patient-centered care adapting communication to individual needs and health literacy.Collaborate with dental and healthcare team to support coordinated, high-quality patient care.Document care thoroughly in the electronic health record.What You BringCurrent California Registered Dental Hygienist license in good standing.Graduation from an accredited dental hygiene program.At least three (3) years of recent clinical hygiene experience, including preventative and periodontal care.Experience with dental radiography and electronic clinical documentation.Current BLS certification or ability to obtain within the required timeframe.Strong knowledge of dental hygiene practices, periodontal health, radiography, infection prevention, and patient safety.Ability to exercise sound clinical judgment and work independently within the scope of licensure.Experience in a community-based dental clinic or similar setting preferred.Why Father Joe’s VillagesYour work directly supports accessible and comprehensive healthcare for people who may face significant barriers to receiving care. The anticipated starting pay range is $38.47 - $47.00 per hour.Work ScheduleThis is a part-time position in the medical clinic requiring availability to work on Mondays and Wednesdays.Conditions of EmploymentEmployment is contingent upon successful completion of applicable pre- and post-employment requirements, which may include background checks, health screenings, license or certification verification, driving record review, and other requirements relevant to the role.
