Primary Purpose

Dental Hygienists coordinate and provide optimal services to clinic patients, with a focus on preventative care, under the supervision of the Dentist. They perform basic dental care tasks to keep teeth and gums healthy and clean. They also educate patients and caregivers on dental hygiene practices, all in accordance with LCH&D’s philosophy of partnership and its core values of Respect, Quality, Compassion, and Hope.

Education and Certification Requirements

• Dental Hygiene degree and licensure to practice in Ohio.
• Maintain continuing education as required by the State Board of Dental Examiners.
• BLS certification.

Skills and Experience Requirements

• Proficient computer skills; ability to learn software like NextGen, EPM, EHR.
• Strong advocacy skills and professional credibility.
• Calm, professional demeanor and enthusiastic communication with patients.
• Responsive to a diverse patient population.
• Excellent communication skills, including therapeutic communication.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks independently.
• Teamwork skills.
• Bilingual Spanish is a plus.
