Dental Hygienist I or Dental Hygienist II

Duties and Responsibilities include:

1. Performs a complete dental prophylactic service that includes exams, cleanings, appropriate x-rays, fluoride treatments, and oral hygiene instruction; documents and records procedures performed; performs x-rays, full-mouth periodontal charting, and oral cancer screenings for children ages 0-19.
2. Administers approved caries prevention treatments such as sealants to tooth surfaces.
3. Administers caries arresting medicaments such as silver diamine fluoride.
4. Educates patients on oral health, treatment options, effects of treatment, and provides home care instructions including nutritional counseling.
5. Prepares patient rooms by restocking, sterilizing, and disinfecting equipment after each use following OSHA and CDC guidelines.
6. Performs basic office tasks such as filing, checking in/out patients, and scheduling appointments.
7. Provides public awareness of dental care issues in environments such as schools, health fairs, and other public forums.
8. Provides preventive dental care in alternative settings including K-12 schools.
9. Mentors pre-dental and community health interns from the University of Illinois.
10. Performs other duties as required.

Requirements for Dental Hygienist I:

• Certificate or diploma from an approved school of dental hygiene.
• Current license to practice as a dental hygienist in Illinois.
• Valid driver's license, dependable transportation, and proof of automobile insurance.
• Willing to obtain Public Health Dental Hygienist Certification within 1 year of employment.
• Flexible or part-time remote work schedule may be considered after probation.
• Expected starting salary: $60,542; full salary range: $51,525 - $69,559 for a 40-hour week.

Requirements for Dental Hygienist II:

• Certificate or diploma from an approved school of dental hygiene.
• Current license to practice as a dental hygienist in Illinois.
• Valid driver's license, dependable transportation, and proof of automobile insurance.
• Public Health Dental Hygienist certification and willingness to work under a collaborative agreement.
• Flexible or part-time remote work schedule may be considered after probation.
• Expected starting salary: $64,131; full salary range: $57,260 - $77,301 for a 40-hour week.
