Qualifications

Responsibilities

LINE OF RESPONSIBILITY:

The Dental Hygienist reports to the Dental Hygienist Supervisor

PURPOSE:

To provide direct preventive care to patients. The range of tasks varies from performing periodontal procedures and placing sealants to patient education;

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform periodontal and preventive procedures.
• Properly take and analyze patient health history, patient education.
• Take radiographs.
• Maintain instruments and machinery (sterilizer, autoclave).
• Proper cleaning and sterilization of instruments.
• Sharpening instruments.
• Be current on new requirements for sterilization and maintenance of equipment and operatories.
• Be current on infection control.
• Maintaining stocked hygiene supplies.
• Accompany patients to/from waiting area.
• Call patients to confirm, schedule and cancel appointments when the front desk is unable to do so or to fill openings in your schedule.
• File charts each day.
• Maintain professional relationship with patients when in the office.
• Maintain professional manner and appearance while in the office.
• Participate in community outreach programs as requested.
• Avoid outside activities which might have a direct negative affect on the practice.
• Be prompt and see patients in a timely manner.
• Assist dentist as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

This position will be located in Huntington and Worthington, with one day required at our Amherst location.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be certified as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current Massachusetts license or a limited license candidate with at least one year of hygiene experience. 0 – 2 years experience
