Job summary

Akron Children's Hospital seeks a part-time Dental Hygienist to provide oral health care, dental education and preventive procedures in the hospital clinic or School Health as prescribed by the Dentist.

Primary duties include patient care, education, and contributing to safety and quality efforts, with age-appropriate care from birth to 21 years (and select adults). Work onsite, 20 hours/week (Mon-Thurs 8am-4:30pm, Fri 7am-3:30pm).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and graduation from an accredited dental hygiene program.
• License to practice dental hygiene in Ohio.
• CPR certification.
• One year of relevant experience preferred.

Technical Expertise

1. Experience as a Dental Hygienist is preferred.
2. Experience with electronic medical records is preferred.
3. Experience working with various levels within an organization is required.
4. Strong attention to detail and concentration skills is required.
5. Experience in healthcare is preferred.
6. Experience working in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is required.
7. Experience and willingness to work with Nitrous Oxide.

Education and Experience

1. Education: High school diploma or equivalent and graduate of an accredited dental training program or the equivalent in applicable experiences required; Bachelor's degree is preferred.
2. Certification: Licensed to practice dental hygiene in the state of Ohio is required.
3. Certified in CPR is required.
4. Years of relevant experience: Minimum one year of experience is preferred.
5. Years of experience supervising: None
6. A valid driver's license is required. Possesses a valid State driver's license and ability to obtain and maintain insurability as determined by the ACH insurance carrier requirements. An annual physical is required to be completed with the Akron Children's Hospital Employee Health Department.
