Job summary

Riccobene Associates Family Dentistry in Shallotte, NC is seeking a Hygiene Assistant to support our hygienists and keep the schedule running smoothly. You will assist with patient prep, charting, room turnover, and treatment plan discussions so clinicians can focus on care.

You will greet patients, take histories, radiographs, and help with infection control, scheduling, and patient financing explanations, while delivering friendly service in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Must have completed NC radiology course or be willing to complete before start.
• Current CPR/BLS certification.
• North Carolina Dental Assistant II credential a plus.
• Comfort discussing treatment and financial options with patients.

Responsibilities

• Greet and seat patients, review and update medical histories, and take vital signs.
• Take radiographs and intraoral photos.
• Record periodontal charting and clinical notes as the hygienist dictates.
• Prepare and turnover operatories, including cleaning, disinfecting, and setting up trays.
• Sterilize instruments and maintain infection control standards.
• Provide oral hygiene instructions to patients.
• Review treatment plans with patients and explain costs, insurance estimates, and financing options.
• Help schedule treatment and support case acceptance with the front office.
• Keep the hygiene schedule on time and assist during busy days.
• Perform other duties within NC regulatory scope for dental assistants.
