Job summary

Promise Community Health Center is seeking a Dental Coordinator to oversee the daily clinical, operational, and administrative functions of the dental department. You will coordinate with providers, assistants, specialists, and support staff to ensure safe, high-quality patient care and efficient operations.

In this role, you will lead the clinical team, monitor compliance with standards, and support workflows to maximize patient access and provider productivity while maintaining HIPAA

Qualifications

  • 3 years of dental supervision experience.
  • Hygienist experience preferred.
  • Experience with dental software, EHR, and MS Office.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Dental Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day clinical, operational, and administrative functions of the dental department to ensure the delivery of safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. This role serves as a key liaison between providers, dental assistants, specialists, laboratories, patients, and support staff, fostering effective communication, accountability, and continuity of care. The Dental Coordinator provides leadership and support to clinical team members, monitors compliance with clinical standards and regulatory requirements, and works collaboratively with department leadership to optimize workflows, patient access, and provider productivity.

JOB INFO:

HOURS: full-time | M-F 8am to 5pm

SALARY RANGE: hourly position

REPORTS TO: Director of Patient Financial Services

  • Partner with the Infection Control and Sterilization Leader to ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, clinical standards, and regulatory requirements; monitor compliance through TechEdge and implement corrective actions, coaching, and continuous improvement initiatives to promote safety, efficiency, and quality patient care.
  • Oversee daily clinical operations, including treatment room readiness, staffing, workflows, and patient flow; partner with the Dental Director to facilitate team communication, daily huddles, and resolution of operational concerns to support provider productivity and departmental efficiency.
  • Coordinate communication and follow-up among providers, specialists, laboratories, and support staff to ensure continuity of care, timely treatment progression, laboratory case completion, and resolution of case-related issues.
  • Lead implementation, utilization, and compliance initiatives related to TRIOS, medical-dental integration, and other clinical programs; coordinate training, monitor adherence to workflows, and reinforce best practices to ensure consistency and operational effectiveness.
  • Maintain knowledge of specialty and restorative treatment options.
  • Provide leadership, supervision, coaching, and performance management for dental assistants and clinical support staff; ensure adherence to clinical standards and workflows while promoting accountability, productivity, and professional development.
  • Maintain a visible leadership presence within the department by monitoring workflows, addressing operational needs in real time, promoting teamwork and accountability, and adjusting staffing resources as necessary to support clinic operations.
  • Oversee scheduling, referrals, treatment authorizations, and patient access processes to maximize provider productivity, improve schedule utilization, and ensure timely progression of patient treatment plans.
  • Partner with the Inventory Leader to oversee inventory management, ordering practices, and supply availability while monitoring utilization trends and implementing solutions to prevent shortages and operational disruptions.
  • Promote an exceptional patient experience through service recovery, patient engagement, retention efforts, marketing initiatives, community outreach activities, and representation at organizational and community events.
  • Ensure accurate maintenance of patient records, protection of confidential health information, and compliance with HIPAA, organizational policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 3 years of dental supervision experience.
  • Hygienist experience preferred.
  • Experience working with dental practice management software, electronic health records (EHR), and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience supporting patient scheduling, treatment coordination, and administrative office workflows.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to stand for long periods of time.
