Job summary

Burbank Dental Lab in Burbank, CA is hiring a full-time Dental CAM, Milling & Swiss Lathe Operator to program and run our milling and turning departments. You will take restorations from CAD file to finished part on dental mills, larger industrial machines, and Swiss-type lathes.

We prefer candidates with WorkNC / WorkNC Dental CAM experience or Röders high-speed milling machines. Training is provided for other CAM systems.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of CNC milling in a production setting.
• Experience operating dental milling machines (e.g., Roland/DGSHAPE, Amann Girrbach, imes-icore).
• Experience with large industrial CNC centers, including 5-axis.
• Experience setting up and running Swiss-type lathes (Citizen, Star, Tsugami).
• Hands-on experience with Fanuc controls, edits, offsets, and alarms.
• Experience performing preventive machine maintenance and keeping maintenance records.
• Working knowledge of at least one CAM system and creating custom toolpaths.
• Experience creating CAD models (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, exocad, 3Shape).
• Ability reading tool data, adjusting feeds/speeds, diagnosing machining problems.
• Attention to detail and ability to meet tight tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Import STL and dental CAD files, nest, orient, and pin restorations in CAM.
• Create custom 3-, 4-, and 5-axis toolpaths and simulate for collisions/undercuts.
• Develop machining strategies and templates for each material and machine.
• Set up and run dental mills and larger CNC machines, including blanks, fixtures and offsets.
• Set up and run Swiss-type lathes on Fanuc controls, including guides, bar feeders, tooling and offsets.
• Edit G-code at Fanuc control and prove out new jobs.
• Mill zirconia, PMMA, wax, glass ceramic, cobalt-chrome, titanium including implant components.
• Build and edit CAD models for fixtures and restorations as needed.
• Maintain tool libraries and track wear/life.
• Perform preventive maintenance, lubrication, spindle checks, calibration.
• Keep records: maintenance logs, tool changes, machine issues, material lots.
• Inspect milled parts for fit/finish and troubleshoot issues.
• Prioritize milling queue with production team to meet deadlines.
