Job summary

Fortis Institute in Townson, MD is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic faculty member to teach in our Dental Assisting Program. This is a part-time professional position reporting to the Dean of Education. The primary responsibility is to teach Dental Assisting courses and advise students.

Typical load is two courses per term with one or two preparations. Applicants should have completed a Dental Assisting program (certificate or diploma), with an associate degree preferred.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Dental Assisting program resulting in a Certificate of Completion or a Diploma; an associate degree is preferred but not required
• Current CDA and/or RDA; DANB RHS; Maryland Dental Radiation Technologist; CPR or BLS
• At least three years of chairside clinical experience in four-handed dentistry
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Highly organized, motivated, and results-driven
• Prior higher education/postsecondary teaching experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Teach Dental Assisting courses; typical load is two courses each term, with one or two preparations
• Provide academic advising to students
• Participate in department training, meetings and graduation
