Fortis Institute in Townson, MD is seeking an energetic Dental Assistant to join its faculty in a part-time role. The primary duties include teaching the Dental Assisting Program (typically two courses per term, with 1-2 preparations) and providing academic advising to students.

Reporting to the Dean of Education, the candidate should hold a Dental Assisting certificate or diploma, with current CDA/RDA and other credentials such as DANB RHS, Maryland Radiation Technologist, and CPR/BLS.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Dental Assisting program resulting in a Certificate of Completion or a Diploma
• Current CDA and/or RDA licensure is required
• DANB RHS certification is preferred
• Maryland Dental Radiation Technologist license is preferred
• CPR or BLS certification required
• Minimum three years of chairside clinical experience in four-handed dentistry
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Highly organized, motivated, and results-driven
• Prior higher education/postsecondary teaching experience preferred

Job Description

We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic faculty member to teach in our Dental Assisting Program. This is a part-time, professional position reporting directly to the Dean of Education. The primary responsibility will be to teach Dental Assisting courses. The typical teaching load is two courses each term, with one or two preparations. Applicants will also be expected to provide academic advising to students, and participate in department training, meetings and graduation.

Requirements

• Completion of a Dental Assisting program resulting in a Certificate of Completion or a Diploma; an associate degree is preferred but not required
• Certifications/Licensure:
• Current CDA and/or RDA
• DANB RHS
• Maryland Dental Radiation Technologist
• CPR or BLS
