Job description

Job Posting Title: Dental Assisting Instructor (Adjunct) - Choose To Make A Difference

Responsibilities include:
  1. Employing appropriate instructional methods and learning strategies to communicate subject matter to students and modifying where appropriate to meet diverse students’ needs.
  2. Preparing outlines of instructional programs and training schedules according to established course objectives.
  3. Observing and evaluating students' work to determine progress, providing feedback, and making suggestions for improvement.
  4. Encouraging the development of communication skills and higher order thinking skills through appropriate assignments.
  5. Presenting lectures and conducting discussions to increase students' knowledge and competence, using visual aids such as graphs, charts, videotapes, and slides.
  6. Supervising independent or group projects, field placements, laboratory work, or other training, as necessary.
  7. Providing individualized tutorial and/or remedial instruction.
  8. Conducting simulated on-the-job training, classes, or training sessions to teach and demonstrate principles, techniques, procedures, and/or methods of designated subjects.
  9. Posting and maintaining regular office hours to ensure accessibility to students for advisement and consultation.
  10. Participating in graduation ceremonies.
  11. Collaborating with college administration, staff, and faculty to improve overall operations.
  12. Substituting for other instructors within the discipline when needed.
  13. Participating in conferences, seminars, training sessions, and at least one professional development activity annually.
Required Experience:
  • Two (2) years of occupational (practical) experience in the subject field, or
  • Three (3) years of occupational experience if the educational requirement is not met,
  • Preferred: Minimum of one (1) year of teaching experience or formal training in instructional methodology.
Educational Requirements:
  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Graduation from an accredited program in the specialty area.
Licenses and Certifications:
  • Valid, active license as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) or Certified Dental Assistant (CDA), licensed for at least two (2) years.
  • Certificate of Completion in teaching methodology (at least 30 hours), or to be obtained within six (6) months of hire.
  • Current CPR Card.
