Job description

Position Title: Dental Assisting Instructor
Location:Lebanon County Career and Technology Center

The Lebanon County Career and Technology Center (LCCTC) is now accepting applicants for teaching position of a Dental Assisting Instructor. This is a 189-day, full-time professional position for the 25-26 school year.

Performance Responsibilities:The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to the following fundamental duties:

  • Establish standards for classroom behavior and safety that support the school’s discipline and safety programs.
  • Identify and select teaching and learning materials that correlate to the task list and are in line with current industry certifications and standards, as well as approved by the occupational advisory committee.
  • Plan lessons for each competency that are defined by clear performance standards, competency procedures and learning steps.
  • Communicate, promote and support the benefits of CTSO’s, such as HOSA and SkillsUSA.
  • Maintain technological and teaching skills through continuous professional development.
  • Maintain active involvement with advisory committees.
  • Communicate with administration, parents, and support staff personnel concerning student progress.
  • Create a classroom environment and model behavior that promotes professionalism, courtesy, positive attitude, support and empathy.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience and Knowledge shall include:
    • Infection Control, Safety and Emergency Procedures, Ethical and Legal Responsibilities including HIPPA Policies, Anatomy and Physiology, Office Procedures, Pharmacology, Radiology Skills, Operative (Chair Side) Dentistry, Dental Materials, Dental Lab Procedures, Oral Surgery, Periodontics, Prosthodontics, Endodontics, and Orthodontics
    • Dental Assistant National Board Certifications, CPR, AED, OSHA, Blood Borne Pathogens, HIPPA
  • Computer experience is necessary
  • Participate in required Teacher Induction program

Enrollment in Penn State Teacher Certification Program Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma, along with formal training in Dental Assisting.
  • Must have a minimum of four years of full-time, wage-earning experience, or two years full-time wage-earning experience in dental assisting and a bachelor’s degree.
  • Must possess or be willing to attain a PA teaching certification (Dental Assisting CIP 51.0601).
