Job summary

Western Mass Periodontics & Implant Specialists in Pittsfield, MA seeks a Full-Time Dental Surgical Assistant to support periodontal, implant, and grafting procedures. You will work with experienced specialists, prepare operatories and instruments, and help with imaging and documentation.

Qualifications

• Dental assisting education or certification preferred.
• Radiography certification preferred.
• Current CPR certification preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Provide chairside assistance during periodontal, implant, grafting, and other surgical procedures.
• Prepare patients, operatories, instruments, and equipment for treatment.
• Take and process diagnostic-quality digital x-rays and assist with imaging.
• Follow sterilization, infection-control, OSHA, and surgical safety protocols.
• Provide compassionate patient support and explain pre- and post-operative instructions.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and organized operatories.
• Maintain instruments, equipment, supplies, and surgical inventory.
• Collaborate with providers and the clinical team to keep procedures and patient flow running efficiently.

Your Role as a Dental Surgical Assistant

• Provide chairside assistance during periodontal, implant, grafting, and other surgical and non-surgical procedures
• Prepare patients, operatories, surgical instruments, materials, and equipment for treatment
• Take and process diagnostic-quality digital x-rays and assist with imaging
• Follow sterilization, infection-control, OSHA, and surgical safety protocols
• Provide compassionate patient support and explain pre- and post-operative instructions
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and organized, treatment-ready operatories
• Maintain instruments, equipment, supplies, and surgical inventory
• Collaborate with providers and the clinical team to keep procedures and patient flow running efficiently

What We’re Looking For

• Periodontal, implant, oral surgery, or other surgical assisting experience is a strong plus
• Dental assisting education or certification preferred
• Radiography certification preferred
• Current CPR certification preferred
• Familiarity with surgical instruments, sterilization, and infection-control protocols
• Strong chairside, communication, and organizational skills
• Professional, dependable, calm, and comfortable working with surgical patients
• High school diploma or equivalent required
