Job summary

Michael J. Williams Periodontics is seeking a Part-Time Dental Surgical Assistant to join our Pittsfield, MA practice. You will work closely with an experienced periodontist, assisting with periodontal and implant procedures and developing skills in a modern specialty environment.

The role offers a consistent weekday schedule (Mon-Thu), competitive pay ($25–$26/hour), and opportunities for CE and professional development. Part-time, on-site position with a supportive clinical team.

Qualifications

• Experience in surgical, periodontal, implant, endodontic, or prosthodontic assisting preferred.
• Radiography certification required.
• Current CPR certification required.
• Knowledge of surgical instruments, sterilization, infection control, and clinical safety protocols.
• Strong chairside, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide chairside surgical assistance during periodontal, implant, and related procedures.
• Prepare patients, operatories, instruments, materials and equipment for procedures.
• Take digital x-rays and assist with 3D imaging and diagnostic imaging.
• Assist with anesthesia preparation and monitor vital signs during procedures.
• Follow sterile and infection-control protocols.
• Educate patients regarding treatment and post-operative instructions.
• Maintain accurate patient charts and clinical records.
• Maintain instruments, equipment, supplies and implant inventory.
• Collaborate with the provider and team to maintain efficient surgical flow.

• Part-Time | Monday-Thursday | 7:45AM-4:30PM
  • No evenings. No weekends.

Your Role as a Dental Surgical Assistant

• Provide chairside surgical assistance during periodontal, implant, and related procedures
• Prepare patients, operatories, surgical instruments, materials, and equipment for procedures
• Take digital x-rays and assist with 3D scanning and diagnostic imaging
• Assist with anesthesia preparation and monitor patient vital signs during procedures
• Follow surgical sterilization, infection-control, biohazard, and OSHA protocols
• Educate and reassure patients regarding treatment and pre- and post-operative instructions
• Maintain accurate patient charts, treatment documentation, and clinical records
• Maintain surgical instruments, equipment, supplies, and implant inventory
• Collaborate with the provider and clinical team to maintain efficient surgical flow and an exceptional patient experience

What We’re Looking For

• Surgical, periodontal, implant, oral surgery, endodontic, or prosthodontic assisting experience strongly preferred
• Radiography certification required
• Current CPR certification required
• Knowledge of surgical instruments, sterilization, infection control, and clinical safety protocols
• Strong chairside, communication, and organizational skills
• Professional, dependable, calm, and patient-focused
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
